Conventional versus addressable fire alarm systems
Both system types can be appropriate. The right choice depends on building complexity, required information, expansion and the complete fire-safety design.

The direct answer
A conventional fire alarm identifies the affected zone, while an addressable system can identify individual devices or more precise events. That does not automatically make one correct for every building.
The property size, layout, use, fire strategy, information requirement, cabling, future changes and budget should decide the system rather than a product preference alone.
Conventional systems
Conventional systems can suit smaller or straightforward premises where clear zonal indication meets the requirement. Devices are arranged on circuits associated with zones, and the panel identifies the zone in alarm or fault.

Wireless does not mean a third fire-alarm category
Wireless describes the communication method, not the complete fire-alarm design. Suitable wireless EN54 systems may reduce disruption or cabling on appropriate projects, but device coverage, radio design, power, interfaces and the building requirement still need to be addressed.
Questions to answer before choosing
